Meet Me! Q&A with Brandon Bettis, Financial Professional

Describe your business and your client base

I’m a value based financial professional that focuses on holistic financial planning. This includes retirement, risk management, asset allocation, and behavioral habits.

My value is unique because of my fee based model that allows for flexibility when it comes to the services we provide. Some people want a complete, one-time plan for their future while others appreciate an ongoing professional relationship through a subscription. My team and I can help with both. We also approach money management differently when compared to traditional financial advisors.

My ideal client is a pre-retiree that is looking for guidance and advice for their long term goals. I also work well with transitioning military veterans and anyone that is serious about their finances.

How did you get here?

I was born and raised in Arizona and served in the US Army after graduating from ASU (GO DEVILS)! I served for 10 years on active duty as an Infantry Officer. Along the way, I realized that even with a good paycheck and simple lifestyle, we were still living paycheck to paycheck. That’s when I got serious about my financial habits and became debt free. I fell in love with personal finance and started teaching the basics to my Soldiers and serving as a mentor to them (I still have guys emailing me regularly for little bits of advice). In 2016, when it was time to leave active duty I realized that helping others was still in my blood and I dove into the world of becoming a financial advisor.

The first firm I worked and trained with was not a good fit. I realized that the realities of most financial firms was much more focused on sales and high fees. In 2018, I changed firms and found a great business partner and mentor that had the same passion to help others as me. We want to make professional financial support available to everyone, not just those with existing assets.

My motivation for helping anyone goes back to a young age when my parents got divorced. My mom went to a fancy financial advisors office and was basically laughed out of the room because she had very few investable assets. I promised to never turn anyone away that truly needs or wants help. I love educating clients and the community and I’m willing to invest time in their success.

What gets you up in the morning? How do you typically start your day?

I start my day with personal development. This includes reading, physical fitness, and prepping for the work day.

I receive motivation and energy from meeting and talking with clients and prospective clients. I believe a professional relationship is built on trust so anytime I can talk with someone to provide value or to help them, that keeps me going.

I get excited when a client says “for the first time in my life, I feel confident with my finances”. There is NOTHING better than helping others reach their goals.

What would you do if you weren’t in your current role?

Someone once asked me “if money wasn’t a factor, what would you do”? This question changed my life and made me realize that money is not the most important thing.

Although I will never stop helping others or leave this career, if I could have a side job as the equipment manager for the Detroit Red Wings I would do that. Of course the commute would suck so I would be happy to be the equipment manager for the Arizona Coyotes as well! I would do that job for free!

My dream job growing up was to be a Soldier and that has been accomplished!

What is the best concert you ever attended?

My top concerts (in no particular order) are:
AC/DC, Metallica, Paul McCartney (twice!), Rolling Stones, Britney Spears (Yup!), the Beach Boys, and Bob Seger.

My favorite concert was Bob Seger because my mom was a huge fan. She bought 6 tickets to the farewell tour in 2019 and a mix of us went. The catch was, they were all single seat tickets in the same section.

Well, when I was trying to find my seat in the dark, I just kept walking down until I ended up by the floor seats! I stayed down there during the opening act and eventually got so good at sneaking down there, I invited my sister and mom to come down.

We spent the majority of the concert on the floor, about 10 rows away from the stage. The look and excitement on my Mom’s face was worth getting caught. We kept running up to the stage to try and get a picture of my Mom and Bob, but a creepy security guard kept pushing us back. I almost got into a fight with the guy just so my Mom could get a picture! Great concert and memory!

Thank you! Before you go, is there anything you’d like to add?
